Digital is used on telescope boxes to mean at least three different things, and the differences matter a great deal to what you end up with: a computerised mount, an instrument with a built in camera, or a toy with a screen.
Digital as a computerised mount
The commonest use: the optics are entirely conventional and the mount has motors and a database. You still look through an eyepiece. The digital part is the finding and the tracking, which is genuinely useful and has nothing to do with how the image is formed.
Digital as a camera instead of an eyepiece
A smart telescope replaces the eyepiece with a sensor and sends a stacked image to a phone. This is the meaningful version of digital, because it changes what the instrument can show: a sensor accumulates light over minutes and an eye does not, so faint objects appear that no eyepiece would reveal at that aperture.
Digital as a screen on a toy
The third use is a small instrument with a low resolution camera and a built in display, sold cheaply and showing less than the same money spent on ordinary optics. The way to tell them apart is aperture and sensor specification: a real instrument publishes both, and a toy publishes a screen size and a magnification figure.
Which one you want
If the appeal is looking, a conventional instrument with or without a computerised mount. If the appeal is seeing faint things and sharing pictures, a smart telescope. The two are not competitors and owners of both use them on different nights and for different reasons.
